Vendor account terms

By Kai Greenspan, Founding Editor

This page is pending legal review before public launch.

These terms apply to every company that uses a vendor account at account.debttechindex.com to add its own answers to its pages on DebtTechIndex, and to each person who signs in to one. Our own record of every vendor stays free and independent of them.

01

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are between Debt Collection Index LLC, a New Mexico company, which publishes DebtTechIndex ("we", "us"), and the vendor whose account you use ("the company"). "You" means the company and each person who signs in to its account.

02

2. Who may use an account

You must work for the company, or be authorized to act for it, and be 18 or older. By signing in, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms for the company and to supply information about it and its products. Sign in only with your own work email at one of the company’s own website domains, and do not share sign-in codes or let anyone else use your session. The first person to sign in becomes the account’s owner. Owners invite colleagues, remove people who leave, and are responsible for who is on the account. Where a domain changes hands or lapses, or we cannot confirm who controls it, we may pause the account.

03

3. What you can and cannot change

Your pages have two kinds of information. What you supply through the account is shown on your pages after automatic checks, labeled as supplied by the company; we read a sample, and we may take anything down (section 6). Our record is our summary, categories, the facts we quote from your public pages with their dates, and every Top 10; you cannot edit it. If something in it is wrong, tell us where your public pages say otherwise; that is free and needs no account. If your own public page states a fact a Top 10 asks about and we have not counted it, you can point us to the page. We read it, and if it holds, it counts like any other vendor’s, with or without an account.

04

4. What you must never send us

Any consumer’s or debtor’s personal information, in any box; if we find it, we delete it and tell you. Anything false, misleading or out of date, including figures you do not publish yourself. Claims of quality ("best", "leading", "#1"), or claims that anyone, DebtTechIndex included, endorses, approves or verifies your company or products. Claims about other vendors’ products. Text written to instruct search or AI systems rather than to inform buyers. Names of people or customers who have not agreed to be named. Anything unlawful, or that you do not have the right to share.

05

5. Permission to publish what you supply

The company keeps ownership of what it supplies, and gives us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, publish and display it on our websites, for as long as it is published, and to keep copies as the record of what was published and when. You confirm the company has the right to give this license.

06

6. Our decisions

We decide what appears on our site. We may check, label, reformat, take down or decline anything supplied through an account, and we may pause or close an account that breaks these terms. We do not have to publish anything. When we take something down, your account shows it and, where we can, why.

07

7. Keeping the account secure

Keep your work mailbox secure, because access to it is access to the account. Tell us at enquiries@debttechindex.com straight away if you think someone else has used your account. Use "Sign out on every device" if a device is lost. We will never ask you for a sign-in code.

08

8. Price

An account is free for its first three months, and no card is needed to start. After that it costs 100 US dollars a month. Nothing is charged until the company has agreed to pay, and it can cancel at any time. If the company does not continue after its free months, what it supplied comes off its pages; our own record of its products stays.

09

9. Closing an account

An owner can ask us to close the account at any time, by writing to enquiries@debttechindex.com. What the company supplied comes off its pages at our next update, and is deleted 365 days after closing. Our own record of its products stays.

10

10. No warranties

The account and our websites are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not promise the account will always be available, or that any inquiry or business will result.

11

11. Limit on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue or business. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what the company paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 US dollars.

12

12. The company’s responsibility for what it supplies

The company will defend and compensate us, and our officers and staff, against any claim, loss or cost, including reasonable legal fees, arising from information it supplied that was false, misleading or unlawful, or that infringed someone else’s rights, or from its breach of these terms.

13

13. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. Changes appear on this page with a new date. We will email every account owner before a material change applies. Signing in after a change means the company accepts the current terms.

14

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico and the United States. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts in Bernalillo County, New Mexico.

15

15. General

These terms, with our terms of use and privacy policy, are the whole agreement about vendor accounts. If any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver. The company may not transfer its account or these terms without our written agreement.
